Influence of Impeller Gap Drainage Width on the Performance of Low Specific Speed Centrifugal Pump

The centrifugal pump is one of the most important pieces energy-consuming equipment in various hydraulic engineering applications. This paper takes a low specific speed as research object. Based on method combining numerical calculation and experimental verification, influence gap drainage structure performance its internal flow field distribution were investigated. inside impeller under different widths was studied. comparison between results confirms that calculations this have high accuracy. It found will reduce head pump, but increase efficiency. Using smaller width could greatly improve basis slight reduction head. high-pressure leakage at flows from blade pressure surface to suction can effectively suppress low-pressure area inlet. rate increases with width. Excessive may cause zone inlet previous passage. These serve reference for subsequent design further operating stability pump.
